Round Rock-based Flix Brewhouse Unveils Aggressive Expansion Plans
A Round Rock Company Has Plans to Expand
Flix Brewhouse, a company based in Round Rock, has unveiled aggressive plans for expansion which will more than double the company’s size.
The concept of combining first-run movies, good food and a microbrewery has proven to be extremely successful. Last year saw a two decade national low for attendance at movie theaters. In contrast, Flix Brewhouse experienced a 5% increase in same store attendance, a 10% increase in same store revenue and a remarkable 41% increase in company-wide revenue.
Flix is the only company in the world that combines first-run movies with a microbrewery on site. The emphasis is on outstanding movie viewing venues, on outstanding microbrews of beers, and on quality food. The menu is strong on pizzas, wings and burgers. Flix will offer up to a dozen Flix labeled beers, brewed on site. The approach is to maintain quality in all aspects. This includes quality food and beer, but also comfortable seating and cutting-edge film projection and audio. The approach is working extremely well. A Flix site has six or more auditoriums, featuring parabolic screens, immersive sound and luxury seating. No ticket is required for the lobby or the bar.
This success has led to an alliance with Twin Points Capital, a California-based private equity firm, which has allowed the company to finance the expansion. Flix Brewhouse expects to triple its number of locations from the current four by 2019.
Flix currently has four locations. Besides the location in Round Rock, there are Flix Brewhouses currently operating in Carmel, Indiana; Des Moines, Iowa; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upcoming locations will be opened in Madison, Wisconsin and in Chandler, Arizona. Two other new locations will be opening in Texas, one in El Paso, and the other in Frisco/ Little Elm, in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. More locations are in the works.
